Individuals with search engine optimisation (SEO) expertise will find themselves in high demand in 2010, it has been suggested.

According to CV Screen – a specialist IT recruitment agency – the requirement for those with online marketing services skills, as well as SEO capabilities, rose by 40 per cent in the last 12 months.

And managing director of the company Matthew Iveson noted that the number of jobs in the SEO industry has increased "dramatically" over the past year, as more people are seeing the benefit of employing in-house experts.

"It is clear that more and more companies will be looking to bolster their online presence as we move into 2010," he went on to say.

Further predictions regarding SEO were recently made by David Hallerman of eMarketer, who stated that increased information from social media will be incorporated by advertisers’ SEO practices in the next 12 months.

However, he went on to add that this will inevitably lead to marketers clashing with privacy issues.
